Today we are going to cook Dal Makhani Recipes, Dal Makhani recipe is a restaurant style version with subtle smoky flavors and creaminess of the lentils. If you love authentic Punjabi food then you are going to love this Dal Makhani even more. Dal Makhani is one of the most popular lentil recipes from the North Indian Punjabi cuisine made with Whole Black Lentils (known as Urad dal or Kaali Dal in Hindi) and Kidney Beans (known as Rajma in Hindi). For this recipe, I have used a pressure cooker to cook the lentils
Let take a look of Ingredients used for making Dal Makhani
-----Dal Makhani Ingredients-----
- 1 Cup Of Black Gram / काली उरद दाल
- 1/3 Cup of Red Kidney Beans / राजमा
- 1/4 Cup of Bengal gram lentil(चने की दाल)
- Paste of Clove & Black Pepper
- Ginger (1 inch) & 2 Green Chilli
- Salt
- Water
Ingredients for Dal Makhani tadka
- 2 Tbsp ghee (I am using here Desi Cow Ghee)
- 2 Onions puree
- 2 Tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 3-4 Tomato puree
- 1/2 Tsp salt
- 1/2 Tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1 Tsp Sanuf Dhaniya
- Water
- 1/4 Garam Masala
- 1/4 Haldi (turmeric powder )
- 1/4 Amchour Powder
- 1 Tsp coriander powder
- 1 Tsp Dal Makhani Masala
-1/4 tsp Hing
- 1/2 Tsp Dried fenugreek leaves
- Decoration
- Fresh Home made Cream(Malai)

Method for making Dal Makhani
- In a pressure cooker , 1 Cup Of Black Gram / काली उरद दाल , 1/3 Cup of Red Kidney Beans / राजमा , 1/4 Cup of Bengal gram lentil(चने की दाल), Paste of Clove & Black Pepper ,Ginger (1 inch) & 2 Green Chilli ,Salt ,Water & keep it for 7-8 whistles.
- In a pan add desi cow ghee and onions and cook it until the onions turn brown.
- Add all Tadka ingredients.
- Check if the dal is cooked and add it to the tadka and cook it for 7-8 minutes.
- In other pan add butter, red chili powder and pour it over dal and add coriander and fresh cream.
Dal Makhani is ready to be served!
